Massage Therapists

Karen Hilliard has been in practice since 1980.  Originally trained in modern dance, her particular interest is in everyday body mechanics and the ways that ongoing muscular therapy increases a person's kinesthetic awareness in daily activities.  Her goal is to promote change in postural and movement patterns that may otherwise contribute to soft tissue injury or pain.

Karen's massage style is rooted in the Benjamin system of muscular therapy, neuromuscular and trigger point therapies and myofascial release work.  She works with many levels of manual therapy, from deep structural work to general relaxation massage.

     60 minute massage fee: $95
     75 minute massage fee: $115

Karen Flannery graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute (Cambridge, MA).  In her treatments, she integrates the Benjamin system of muscular therapy with neuromuscular and trigger point therapies, facilitated stretching and relaxation massage.

Karen particularly enjoys doing sports massage with young athletes as well as adults and relaxation massage for cancer survivors.  She appreciates working with clients who are trying to de-stress and listen to their bodies, maybe for the first time.  Karen was driven to body-work therapies after an extensive career in environmental health management.

John Koran has worked at Karen Hilliard Associates for two years and is a graduate of The Salter School in Malden, MA. In his massage treatments, he incorporates Swedish Massage with trigger point release, muscle release techniques, soft tissue release, and passive stretching.

John believes that, through Massage Therapy, people can lead their lives with less pain and lessen their chances of injuring themselves in their daily lives. He enjoys using the above techniques to help his clients alleviate their muscle tension and feel less pain, and he strives to help his clients overcome the tension and stresses that accompany life in today’s world.  John is also available for on-site Corporate Chair Massage.  In addition to being a Massage Therapist, he is also a Certified Personal Trainer and he also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
