Massage Therapists
Our practitioners are members of the American Massage
Therapy Association and licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
We have received training at established Massage Institutions and
maintain our certifications by satisfying the continuing education
requirements of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage
& Bodywork Therapies.

Karen Hilliard (founder) has been
in practice as a Muscular Therapist for over 30 years. Her
first and most influential training in bodywork was through
modern dance. Movement therapies in general have deeply
influenced the way she approaches each session.
Her goal is
to help each person obtain a kinesthetic awareness of their
specific postural and movement patterns that may be
restrictive and contribute to soft tissue pain and injury.
She works with many levels of manual therapy, from deep
structural work, neuromuscular and trigger point therapies,
active isolated stretching and myofascial release work.
She
works effectively with many manual therapists such as
Physical Therapists, Strength Coaches, Movement Therapists,
Chiropractors as well as Orthopedic specialists.

Karen Flannery
has been practicing massage with Karen Hilliard Associates since
2002. She is a graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute,
now known as Cortiva. Karen comes to massage with a passion
for anatomy and finding the keystone that will help release
the tension in your body and change the way you feel, move,
and react to stressors.
Karen has additional training in
working with clients with cancer, high risk pregnancy,
myofascial release, and craniosacral therapy. Karen uses
many techniques to create the best session for you and your
individual needs. She is committed to being a lifelong
learner and continues to evolve her knowledge and massage
practice.

John Koran has
worked at Karen Hilliard Associates since January 2006 and is a graduate
of The Salter School in Malden, MA where he presently is on staff as a
senior Massage Therapy Instructor. In his massage treatments, he
incorporates Swedish Massage with deep tissue manual therapy,
incorporating the studied application of Trigger Point Therapy,
Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, and assisted passive stretching.
John believes that through Massage Therapy, people can lead their
lives with less pain and lessen their chances of injuring themselves. He
uses the above techniques to help his clients alleviate muscle tension
and feel less pain, and, if the client has an injury, to help them
recover faster. He brings to his sessions a thoughtful assessment and
focus of what is needed at the time.
John loves hearing his clients say that they feel better and more
relaxed after their treatments. His clients have told him that through
his work, they have been able to lead more active lives with less pain
and less stress.
